travel route review travelers I rode the longest train route in Bangladesh for $10, and the 12 ½-hour journey was surprisingly scenic
Asia is home to some of the fastest trains in the world — but train travel is all about the journey for me.
hotel review Disney We stayed in a 'Toy Story'-themed hotel for $280 a night. Our small room was a great value with tons of awesome details.
The Toy Story Hotel at Tokyo Disney Resort allows guests to feel like they are stepping into a larger-than-life land of toys, without the larger-than-life prices that can come with staying on Disney property. This spring, my family of three checked in to the 595-room hotel, which is located near Bay Station on the Tokyo Disney Resort Line, the resort's dedicated monorail line.
mountain Features bill UPS Parke 3 authentic Wild West mountain towns to visit this summer
Peering up at the snow-laced peaks hemming in the mountain town of Crested Butte, Colorado, it's hard to believe more than 1,400 people once crowded into this long narrow valley 8,885 feet up in the Colorado Rockies in the mid-1800s, weathering the winter in tents and shanties.

show hotel booking International Hotel Savoy Florence Creates Own Art Legacy With First Exhibition By Female Artist
Art in hotels, both to admire and to purchase, has become a strong focus in recent years. The Fife Arms in the Scottish Highlands has an impressive art collection including a giant Louise Bourgeois spider in the courtyard, 45 Park Lane in London has regularly changing exhibitions and art tours, Claridges has its own gallery with regularly changing shows, while La Residencia in Mallorca, Spain has 33 original pieces on display by Joan Miró. The luxurious Hotel Savoy, in Florence, is another hotel that takes art seriously by creating suites for artists to stay in and through hosting regular exhibitions in its public spaces.

Death travelers Parke Waters Man Flowers In The Desert: Death Valley’s Beautiful Bloom
What comes to mind when you hear the words “death valley?” Some sort of desolate hellscape, I would imagine. In fairness, in the summer it’s one of the hottest places on Earth. With temperatures routinely over 120, you’d be forgiven thinking it was a place absent of all life. The truth is more surprising. While even the ultra-dry Death Valley gets rain sometimes, the last year has been exceptionally wet. It got a year’s worth of rain just between October, 2023 and April, 2024.
nature film music community Waters On Location: Japan's Serene Nagano Prefecture Stars in ‘Evil Does Not Exist’
It would be easy to read Evil Does Not Exist as being anti-travel—or, at the very least, anti-glamping. The new film from Japanese director Ryusuke Hamaguchi is set in the tranquil (and fictional) village of Mizubiki some two hours outside of Tokyo. Locals live in deference to the nature that surrounds them, collecting water from the forest’s crystal-clear spring with quiet care. But, when COVID-era economic incentives drive a Tokyo consulting firm to erect a glamping site upstream of the village, without considering the environmental consequences on the community, a high-drama town meeting ensues, wherein villagers poke hole after hole in the hastily-drawn plan. Over the course of the film's two hours, it continues to meditate on topics of man and nature, framing stunning countryside scenery for so long, and with such focus, that you emerge refreshed as though from a cold plunge.
nature mountain beautiful wellness travelers Finding Unexpected Joy on an Organized Day Tour Across Scotland
I’ll never forget staring into the deep, black waters of Loch Ness. The darkness of the lake beautifully highlighted the fat, white snowflakes falling from puffy, gray skies above. This, I remember thinking, was the untouched natural beauty of Scotland that so many of my travel writer friends had raved about. It was one of the most breathtaking winter scenes I’d experienced in my life—and I would never have found myself there if it weren’t for an organized day tour.
sea UPS Waters BAY kayaking In Washington State's San Juan Islands, Time Stands Still and Nature Reigns Supreme
On a still summer morning on Washington State's Orcas Island, I rented a pair of tandem kayaks from a sleepy-eyed, flaxen-haired attendant barely out of her teens, who quickly returned to painting watercolors in the tall grass beside the weather-beaten sales kiosk. A gentle wind went shhh through tall hemlocks as my family paddled, two by two, to a rocky islet at the center of Mountain Lake, on the flank of Mount Constitution. There we clambered ashore, and the kids, Agnes and Rex, immediately began darting among the lodgepole pines, collecting sticks and pine cones to build fairy houses. Aside from the faint smell of a forest fire burning in the Cascades and a smudge of smoke on the eastern sky, it could have been a scene from my own childhood.
